B. Clifton Reardon

The Rev. B. Clifton "Father Bill" Reardon, age 75, of Franklin Farms died on July 5 at Fair Oaks Hospital. He was born Feb. 14, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Robert Clifton and Clara Jane Collins Reardon. He graduated from West High School in Columbus, Ohio; Dennison University in Granville, Ohio and general seminary in New York, N.Y. He was ordained to the priesthood of the Episcopal Church in 1951.

Reardon served parishes in Ft. Pleasant, Pa., Selbyville, Del. and Pulaski and Roanoke, Va. He served as the Archdeacon of the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. He worked at the former Office of Economic Opportunity and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

While working for the federal government, Reardon assisted at various parishes in Northern Virginia. He followed his dreams to the coast of Maine and the life of an innkeeper but returned to Northern Virginia to become an assistant rector at Truro Episcopal Church, Fairfax. All that he had done in service to the church prepared him for the opportunity to become the founding rector at the Church of the Epiphany in Herndon.

After his retirement, Reardon served as interim minister of parishes in Fredericksburg, Middleburg, and Leesburg. More recently, he served as the Bishop's Chaplain to Retired Clergy. Reardon spent his life helping people and doing the work of the church.

Reardon is not only survived by his immediate family, but by a large extended family of those whose lives he touched. He is the beloved husband to Marilyn J. Reardon of Franklin Farms, loving and devoted father of Kathleen Mojica (Julio) of Richmond; David C. Reardon (Rebecca) of South Freeport, Maine; Deborah L. Reardon of Franklin Farms; Cynthia Reardon (Harry Lauer) of Camden, Maine and Michael K. Griffin (Page) of Roanoke, Va. He is survived by his grandchildren Alanna, Tanya, Alex, Kevin and Dustin.

Funeral services took place on July 8 at The Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Herndon and internment was held at Church of Emmanuel Episcopal Cemetery in Middleburg. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to B. Clifton Reardon Ark Fund, c/o Bank of Powhatan, 2320 Anderson Highway, Powhatan, VA 23139.
