Rosalie Foley Daigle

Rosalie Foley Daigle, 83, of Gray, Tenn., died Tuesday, July 27, following a brief illness.

Daigle, a native of Liverpool, England, lived in Alexandria between 1949 and 1984.

The daughter of the late Phillip William and Josephine Hubbard Foley, she attended Mercy Commercial College, New York, N.Y., and served in the National Women’s Civilian Corp. during World War II. As an adult, she was a bakery manager at Giant Foods in Alexandria, from which she retired in 1984.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Daniel A. Dunne, in 1983; her second husband, Alberic Z. Daigle, in 1978; one son, Daniel J. Dunne; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Mary Cox of Johnson City, Tenn., and Catherine R. Major of Alexandria; one son, George T. Dunne of Eubank, Ky.; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Dunne of Chantilly; one brother, Bernard Foley of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and neighbors and close friends, Jim Rittenhouse and Tina and Scott Gragg.
