The Elden Street Players is in its 16th season. As a group, the Players produces original and previously published works and dramas not normally seen in community theater. The intimate setting of the Industrial Strength Theatre, located in Herndon at 269 Sunset Business Park on Spring Street in Herndon, allows no audience member to be more than 20 feet away from the open-arena stage. Pied Piper Theatre, a youth theater company, works in association with the Center for the Arts to promote youth theater and activity, working with children between the ages of 8 and 18. Pied Piper Theatre puts on three major musicals a year. Pied Piper Theatre and the Center for the Arts also run a theater summer camp for children age 5 to 18. The 2004-2005 season will feature “The Little Mermaid,” “Sleeping Beauty” and “Seussical.”

Reston Community Players is in its 38th year. It will begin its fall season with the musical comedy "Mame" on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m., Oct. 22-Nov. 13, with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 and Nov. 7, at the Reston Community Center CenterStage Theatre, 2310 Colts Neck Road, Reston. The Alliance Theatre began March 2001 with its first production, Neil Simon’s “I Ought to Be in Pictures.” Under the direction of Pat Kallman and her partner Elaine Wilson, the Alliance Theatre brings professional-quality theater to the community. The Alliance Theatre encourages community participation through open auditions for actors and crew members.
