Parking Enforcement Officer Arrested

Cletus Okoro, 46, who has been employed as a parking enforcement officer since 1998, was arrested on July 19. According to Alexandria police, Okoro violated the Virginia Criminal Investigation Network rules and regulations when he used his department-issued computer inappropriately.

"He had access to various criminal investigation data bases and used that access for other than law enforcement purposes," said Amy Bertsch, a spokesperson for the Alexandria Police Department.

The crime is a class 1 misdemeanor, which carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and up to a $2,500 fine. Okoro was released on a summons and will appear in court on July 26. He is on administrative leave pending the outcome of his criminal trial as well as an ongoing administrative investigation.
