Herndon resident and George Mason University senior Lisa McCarty completes her year-long internship with McLean Project for the Arts with "The Question of Abstract Art," an exhibition that she has curated concerning abstract art's authenticity as a functioning concept. Works of art by artists from George Mason University, Marymount University, the Corcoran School of Art and Design, and American University are included in the exhibition in the Ramp Gallery. This exhibition is on display from June 17 - July 31 at the McLean Project for the Arts, located in the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean. "Generations," a father-son art exhibition by Michael C. Mendez and John Mendez, will be in the Reston Community Center at Hunters Woods from June 16 to July 31. An artists' reception will be held in the Reston Community Center from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., June 17.

"Changing Seasons," an exhibit of prints by Reston-based artist Diane Bruce, will be on display at the Washington Printmakers Gallery, 1732 Connecticut Ave., Washington, D.C., from now through June 20.

Acrylic paintings by Reston artist Nancy Novick will be on display at Touchstone Gallery, 406 7th St. N.W., Washington, D.C., now through July 3. Reston Art Gallery and Studios will host the exhibit "Summer Solstice," now through July 1, Lake Anne Plaza, 1400 Washington Plaza, Reston. The gallery is open noon-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and noon to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. Eleven artists will show works depicting summer memories in various media. The League of Reston Artists presents a Contemporary Fine Arts Exhibition sponsored by the University of Phoenix Northern Virginia Campus. This exhibition features the Rough Edge Photography of experimental Mississippi artist James W. Bailey now through July 10. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the University of Phoenix, Northern Virginia Campus, 11730 Plaza America Drive, Suite 200, Reston. The Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE), in collaboration with the Market Street Bar and Grill at the Reston Hyatt, is presenting an exhibition featuring Liang Wei. The exhibition, consisting of floral and bird images executed in watercolor and ink, is on display now through July 5.

Frying Pan Park. Farm animals at Kidwell Farm, open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., daily. Sheep, pigs, goats and cows. Pet the animals, take a hayride or watch farm hands at work. Senior Center. Fairfax County seniors 55 years of age or older are invited to participate in a variety of activities (such as strength training, Tai Chi, low impact aerobics and line dancing) at the Reston-Herndon Senior Center, 1850 Cameron Glen Drive, Suite 200, in Reston. Most activities are free of charge. Transportation may be available. Lunchtime meals are available with one day advance notice on a sliding-fee scale.The center welcomes new participants. Woodshop. Reston Community Center's open woodshop meets Tuesdays 6-10 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The woodshop offers workspace and has equipment such as table saws, sanders, drills, worktables and a lathe. The woodshop is located at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods. The woodshop fee is $5 for people who live or work in Reston and $7 for others.
