Friends of Stratford Hall Hold a Tea

Dining

The Alexandria Friends of Stratford held their annual tea at the Norman residence on Templeton Place Feb. 10. The group formed nearly 40 years ago to support the preservation, activities and programs of Stratford Hall in Westmoreland County, Va.

Stratford Hall was built during the 1730’s by Thomas Lee. Lee was a founder of the Ohio Company, a member of the colonial governing board and at one time acting Governor of Virginia. He and his wife Hannah, had eight children. Two of the boys, Richard Henry and Francis Lightfoot, were signers of the Declaration of Independence.  Stratford Hall is also the birthplace of Robert E. Lee.
