La Leche League of Burke meets the first Saturday of the month at 9:30 a.m., at the Burke Presbyterian Church on Oak Leather Drive. The next meeting takes place on Saturday, Nov. 6, and the topic is "The Art of Breastfeeding and Avoiding Difficulties." Expectant and new mothers, along with their children are encouraged to attend. Mothers First – Burke is dedicated to supporting women that have chosen to alter their careers to raise their children at home. Activities include parent/child morning meetings and field trips, moms night out, and lectures. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society sponsors "From Clinic to Classroom: Educating Children with Cancer," on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon at George Marshall High School, 7731 Leesburg Pike. Expert speakers will present information on how cancer treatment impacts children's cognitive and psychosocial development, infection control in the classroom and enhancing school supports for children and their families. HAVEN of Northern Virginia offers the following bereavement support groups:

* Widow/widower bereavement support groups for anyone grieving the death of a spouse. One support group meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. and the other meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The next Thursday meeting is Nov. 4. The next Tuesday meeting is Nov. 9

* A program on how to deal with the holiday season after the death of a loved one, on Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 7:30-9 p.m.
