Restaurants Provide an Array of Foods

Eggrolls, taquitos, fried rice, pizza, charbroiled chicken, quesadillas and fried plantains — these were a few of the foods donated by local restaurants for last week’s diversity forum at West Potomac High School.

Hugo Palma delivered on his promise of a diverse array of foods. Contributing to the feast were: El Pollo Ranchereo; El Huascaran Shops at Telegraph; Guapos of Shirlington; Shoppers Food Warehouse Deli; Mediterranean Cafe of Alexandria; Safeway of Rose Hill; and Dominos Pizza. Dollar Tree of Rose Hill donated supplies.

After guests enjoyed the food, they gathered in the auditorium to hear Eileen Kugler speak about why diverse schools are good for all children. The subject and title of a book by Kugler, she discussed the topic and signed copies of her books.

"WPPTSA was proud to host Eileen to tell this important message to our entire community-that cultural diversity enriches the school curriculum in so many ways," said Diane Brody, president of the WPPTSA and coordinator of the program. "The life lessons that our children learn from each other through this interaction is a very valuable asset as they move into the workforce. Our hope is that this message spreads throughout Cluster IV and that our community embraces our diversity and we recognize it as the blessing that it truly is."
