Comcast is introducing its AMBER Alert initiative throughout Northern Virginia, including Alexandria, Arlington, Reston and Prince William County. The new program, the first corporate partnership of its kind, connects Comcast technicians to the current AMBER Alert system, giving the program broader reach to back roads and neighborhoods where Comcast technicians are working. The AMBER Alert is a partnership between law-enforcement agencies and broadcasters to create an urgent bulletin in child-abduction cases. Comcast installed equipment that will immediately inform Comcast technicians when an AMBER Alert has been issued and the technicians have learned how to respond to these alerts. The equipment and training allows Comcast technicians to keep their eyes and ears open to help in the search and safe return of children.
