Monday’s gray skies didn’t keep Potomac families and students — who were enjoying their fifth consecutive day away from the classroom — indoors. In River Falls, families with young children made snowmen while older kids shoveled driveways, sledded and battled in the easily-packed snow ideal for snowballs.

Students awoke Tuesday to the harsh reality of a return to school — but one that was tempered by mild weather and bright sun.
