Ground Broken, Ribbon Cut

Members of Herndon's Town Council, past and present, broke ground and cut a ribbon at the Herndon Centennial Golf Course March 9.

Funded by public user fees, the golf course was able to raise $1 million to fund the construction of a new maintenance facility.

Included in the new facility, which sits off Old Heights Road and the W&OD Trail, are public restrooms, offices, a lunchroom, locker room and showers and equipment storage for staff.

After the ribbon cutting, Mayor Michael O'Reilly unveiled a plaque on the side of the building recognizing key town council members and mayors involved in the improvement plan of the golf course.

Next O'Reilly was joined by past and present council members in breaking the ground for phase one improvements which include improving the drainage on selected fairways and are scheduled to be completed by May.
