</b>Pet Costume Contest and Parade. Spooky Pooch Costume Contest and 59th Annual Vienna Halloween Parade, 7 p.m. From Berry Street to Center Street, Vienna. Contest winners receive prizes from Happy Tails Dog Spa and Woofie's. All pre-registered participants receive ghoulish goodie bags. $20.00 for first dog; $10.00 for each additional dog. <b>Saturday/Oct. 29

</b>Trick-or-Treating. Franklin Farm Village merchants are hosting free Halloween trick-or-treating at the Franklin Farm Village shopping center, at the intersection of Fairfax County Parkway and Franklin Farm Road, Herndon. Noon – 2 p.m. Pick up free trick-or-treat bags at the Sears Appliance & Hardware customer service desk or at Shiang Yu restaurant while supplies last.

<lst>Northern Virginia Community College’s department of Recreation and Parks and The Fairfax County Park Authority at Burke Lake Park host the Ghost Train Oct. 22, 23, 29 and 30, 10 a.m.-5:15 p.m. each day. Costumes are encouraged. Programming is appropriate for children through the age of 10. Price is $3 per person and children under the age of two ride for free. Reston Association seeking volunteers for Halloween Trail. Come and be part of this after-dark tour through the forest. Halloween Trail will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, Thursday, Oct. 27 and Friday, Oct. 28, 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Walker Nature Education Center, Reston. Volunteers needed for trail guide assistants, costumed characters, make-up artist, food sales, staging assistants, set-up and clean-up. Must be 16 or older to volunteer. Fright Night, a family-oriented Halloween festival for young and old, will be held at South Lakes High School Oct. 27 and 28, 6-10 p.m. with the show at 7 p.m., and Oct. 29, 1-10 p.m. with shows at 2 and 7 p.m. Put on by the Theatre Arts Department, the event include three scary plays, a haunted hall, face painting, story hour, and a costume parade with prizes.
