Managers and supervisors of restaurant and food-service operations in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., are invited to participate in a one-day, Spanish-language Professional Food Safety Training Program at Old Dominion University in Sterling, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The program is designed to prepare restaurant and food-service personnel for the internationally-recognized National Registry of Food Safety Professionals (NRFSP) food safety certification exam.
The program concludes with the administration of the certification exam at approximately 3 p.m. Cost of the program, which includes all materials and the certification exam, is $160. A discount of 10 percent per person applies when three or more people from the same company/organization attend the same class. Professional artist and instructor Carmen Howell will teach an adult drawing class in February at the Loudoun Academy of the Arts in Leesburg. The class is for beginners and
those who want to improve their skills to advance to the next level.
Within a classroom setting, Howell provides individual instruction in drawing with pencil, charcoal, pastel and ink. Students will learn about perspective and space, line, form, shape, gesture, contour and drapery.
The drawing class is offered Wednesday mornings, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., beginning Feb. 8 for four consecutive weeks; and Thursday evenings, from 6:30-9 p.m., beginning Feb. 9 for four consecutive weeks.
