Local Movers and Shakers

Both the Sully and Springfield districts are home to many of the area's movers and shakers. In the Town of Clifton live Del. Tim Hugo (R-40th), Sen. Jay O'Brien (R-39th), Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Robert F. Horan Jr., Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Morrogh, Assistant Superintendent of FCPS' Cluster VII Peter Noonan and Clifton Mayor Tom Peterson.

Mark McConn of Bull Run Estates is head of the Sully District Council of Citizens Associations, and Jeff Parnes of Chantilly Highlands leads that group's Land-Use and Transportation Committee. Bull Run Estates' Judy Heisinger and Fairfax National Estates' Jeff Flading are Sully District's representatives on the Battlefield Bypass Citizens Advisory Committee.

Ted Troscianecki of Virginia Run chairs the West Fairfax County Citizens Association (WFCCA), and Jim Katcham of Centre Ridge Regent serves as WFCCA Land-Use Committee chairman. Del. Chuck Caputo (D-67th) lives in Oak Hill, and Sen. Ken Cuccinelli (R-37th) lives in Centreville's Hanna Estates, near the Mount Olive community.

Sully District Supervisor Michael R. Frey lives in London Commons; Virginia Run's Sam Clay is head of Fairfax County's library system; Centre Ridge's Ron Koch, Sully District Planning Commissioner; Greenbriar's Hal Strickland, Sully District representative and chairman of the county Park Authority; Dorothy Fonow of Oak Hill, executive director of the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries; and Virginia Run's Jim Hart, member of the county’s Board of Zoning Appeals and an at-large Planning Commissioner.

Poplar Tree Estates' Kathy Smith is Sully District representative on the Fairfax County School Board; Crystal Springs' Elaine Wilson, co-founder of The Alliance Theatre; Sully Estates' Georgette Kohler, at-large representative on the county Park Authority; and Poplar Tree Estates' Johnny Nelson, president of the Chantilly Pyramid Minority Student Achievement Committee.

And Kelly Lavin, of Centreville's Hunt Chase community, founded and is executive director of Our Neighbor's Child. Each Christmas, this all-volunteer organization collects, packages and delivers new toys and clothes to needy families in the Centreville, Chantilly and Clifton area.
