Making Idols

Herndon High School students turn off American Idol to become 'Idols' of their own.

Much like its reality TV counterpart, the "Herndon Idol" — a take off of American Idol — junior class fundraising event has become very popular among Herndon High School students and staff.

On Tuesday, Feb. 28, 17 students performed in the school's auditorium before peers and judges. While most of the students offered musical talents, a few deviated from the norm, performing dance routines and even a stand-up comedy act. In its third year, the performances were held as a fundraising event for Herndon's junior class.
