<sh>MCA Meeting

<bt>The McLean Citizens Association (MCA) will hold its Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, May 25, at 7:30 p.m., at the McLean Community Center. The public is invited to attend. At 7:30 p.m. there will be a report of the McLean Citizens Foundation. At 8 p.m., there will be a panel discussion of Rail to Tysons: An Update, by Marcia McAllister, Manager of Communications, Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. <sh>Annual Meeting of Great Falls Trailblazers

<bt>The Annual Meeting of the Great Falls Trail Blazers (GFTB) will be held Wednesday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Schoolhouse on Georgetown Pike. The agenda will include the consideration of GFTB comments on Fairfax County's code for trails and sidewalks. Trails on both sides of major roads? No trails or sidewalks within subdivisions in both R-E and R-1 in Great Falls? Should the map be amended to show trails on both sides of major

roads? GFTB can make recommendations to the Trail/Sidewalk Committee until June 14. Consideration of GFTB comments on VDOT bicycle and pedestrian policy will also be discussed. Is the preference for 1.5-ft. paved shoulders on Colonial Roads, rather than 3-4-ft. shoulders? Should all VDOT projects, whether construction or maintenance, include trails and bicycle lanes? Comments are due to VDOT by May 31. In addition, officers will be elected and plans for National Trails Day on June 3 will be discussed.

<sh>MCC Governing Board Meeting

<bt>The McLean Community Center Governing Board will meet on Wednesday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Center. This will be the final 2005-2006 meeting. All meetings of the Governing Board are open to the public. Members of the public who wish to speak during the "Citizen Comment" portion of the meeting are asked to call the Center to be placed on the agenda. Immediately after the meeting is adjourned, the incoming 2006-2007 Governing Board will convene and elect officers for the coming year. <sh>McLean Day

<bt>The McLean community will celebrate its 91st annual McLean Day Festival on Saturday, May 20, at Lewinsville Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual day of fun for all ages includes carnival rides, games, craft booths, performances and exhibits. The first McLean Day was held in 1915 at the Civic League Lot which was later donated to Franklin Sherman Elementary School.
