The Women's Center, a nonprofit organization based in Vienna, is having the third event in the D.C. Networking Series on Wednesday, June 7 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Charles Sumner School in downtown D.C. Career coaching is designed to help participants assess strengths and challenges, generate new possibilities, find what is most meaningful and support people through career transitions. Commonwealth Consultants Inc., an independently owned public relations firm located in Vienna, was named one of the Top 50 Corporate Philanthropists by the Washington Business Journal. The announcement came at the 2006 Business Philanthropy Summit, hosted by the Washington Business Journal and Greater D.C. Cares on May 11. The event highlighted some of the ways businesses and nonprofits can work together to achieve their goals. Each year, Commonwealth Consultants donates 25 percent of its net income to the Commonwealth Consultants Foundation, which supports local charities and individuals in need and community organizations. Local organizations that have benefited from the Foundation's efforts are Carpenter's Shelter, Inova Keller Center and George Mason University. In addition to direct charitable donations, Commonwealth Consultants Foundation has endowed two $10,000 scholarships for students attending George Mason University.
