Race for the Kids, sixth annual benefit run for Neediest Kids. Local Olympian Alan Webb leads the Reston mile race, for children through high school. Registrations is free, and begins at 7:30 a.m., with the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. Visit www.neediestkids.org. The Reston Holiday Parade and tree lighting are later in the day.

Home Energy Conservation. Sierra Club meeting will focus on projects to make a home more energy efficient. Presented by Ethan Hirsch-Tauber, a specialist in building sciences and energy efficiency technologies. 7-9 p.m. at Lake Anne Community Center, 1609-A Washington Plaza, Reston. Gov. Tim Kaine and the AARP will visit Cameron Glen Care Center, 1800 Cameron Glen Drive, to speak about long-term care insurance. The event will be at 1 p.m.

Reston Lions Citrus Sale. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the sales trailer at North Point Shopping Center off of Reston Parkway. Reston Lions charities will use the proceeds to fund local groups such as Reston Interfaith Food Bank, Emery Rucker Shelter, Boy Scouts and other groups that look to the Reston Lions for help.
