Commonwealth Orthopaedics is sponsoring the first collaborative workshop of its kind for area high school team physicians and certified athletic trainers. From the Waist Up: Sideline Management of Upper Extremity, Spine and Abdominal Injuries, will bring together ATCs and team physicians from Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun counties as well as from the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church and Manassas to present the latest available information on sports injury management. The workshop is organized into five sessions, with 18 scheduled presenters, all of which are either Commonwealth Orthopaedic surgeons or certified athletic trainers from local high schools. The specific topics to be covered include injury management of the head, lumbar spine and C-spine, abdomen, hand and upper extremity. The workshop will be held at George Mason University on Saturday, Feb. 10, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Call 702-246-8081.

Natural Solutions to Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain and Fatigue is the topic of a gree seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 7-8 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., S.E. Dr. Kathryn Thomas of New Life Wellness Center will discuss the causes and solutions to this often debilitating illness. The program is free, but registrations is required.
