Chesterbrook United Methodist Church, 1711 Kirby Road at Old Dominion Drive in McLean, hosts a Lenten Sermon Series Sundays at 11 a.m. The series will ask “why?” about a number of topics in modern spiritual life – Why worship God? Why forgive others? Why do I have problems and crises? The preacher for the series will be the Rev. Dr. James Siddons, pastor of the church.

The series schedule is: March 4: Why Follow Christ? (I); March 11: Why Confess and Repent?; March 18: Why Forgive Others?; March 25: Why Worship?; April 1: Why Follow Christ? (II).

Following the seven-Sunday Lenten sermons, the sermon on Easter, April 8, will celebrate the meaning of the Resurrection in the Christian life. A Lenten Bible Study will take place from Sunday, Feb. 25, to Easter Sunday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m., in the church social hall. The Virginia Bronze Handbell Ensemble will be presenting The Many Moods of Music: The Power of Music and Emotions as a part of the Vienna Presbyterian Church Concert Series on March 11 at 3:30 p.m. Musical selections will include Takeda Rhapsody, In the Mood, Shenandoah and Song of Peace. The concert will take place at the Vienna Presbyterian Church located at 124 Park St., Vienna. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person or $25 per family.
