Teacher Faces Charges

Sheriff’s Office Brings Additional Charges

A Herndon Middle School teacher, suspended without pay since January, was charged by Loudoun Sheriff’s investigators Wednesday, June 27, for inappropriately touching a Reston high-school teen in his Sterling home, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The latest charges stem from an arrest by Fairfax County police in January.

Richard C. Forsythe, 37, of Sterling, allegedly had inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old Reston female in October 2006.

Kraig Troxell, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office, said the contact did not occur on school property. Sheriff’s investigators charged Forsythe with custodial indecent liberties with a minor after he allegedly had contact with the teenager at his home in Sterling.

Forsythe was charged by Fairfax County authorities in January with custodial indecent liberties with a minor after their investigation revealed his relationship with the teen.

"As far as the connection, how they knew one another, I don’t know," Troxell said.

Forsythe is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center in Leesburg.
