Chantilly Theatre Department will be presenting the children's play, "Cucumber Phil" in the Chantilly High School auditorium. The performance schedule is July 11 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and July 12 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Michael S. Chung, 26, of Chantilly was recently awarded his M.D. degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is currently doing his residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, NY. In his second year, he spent the summer in Guatemala studying the Spanish language. The son of Milton and Shuna Chung of Poplar Tree Estates graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University where he majored in computer engineering. There he worked as a volunteer EMS on campus as well as the Food Science Department. He also graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology where he was in the chess club. He attended Rocky Run Middle School and Greenbriar West Elementary. Michael hopes to practice internal medicine in the future.

David George of Chantilly received the 2007 Harmon E. Broyles Scholarship at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. David is majoring in business information technology in the Pamplin College of Business. This merit-based scholarship is based upon exceptional leadership qualities and a commitment to pursue future leadership roles within the university and/or community.

Derek Jeffrey Ho of Chantilly was named to the High List, Episcopal High School's academic honor roll, for the 2006-07 school year. This honor denotes an average of 90 or above in five or more academic courses for the year. Derek is the son of Mr. Yen-Fu Ho and Ms. Ann Hsu of Chantilly.

Samantha Marie Luffy of Centreville has been selected by the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg for "Honors Admission" for the fall of 2007. Samantha is the daughter of Tim and Elizabeth Luffy of Centreville and is a 2007 graduate of Westfield High School. A member of the National Honor Society, Samantha has been involved in theater all four years. She is a member of the Thespian Honor Society for Theater, and she has served in numerous roles, including backstage tech, ensemble member, assistant director and lead actor. Active in the Centreville Presbyterian Church, she has been a small group leader, a member of the youth praise band and the youth council, and a participant in out-of-state and out-of-country mission trips.

Patrick D. Massey, a 2001 graduate of Centreville High School, received the Outstanding Health and Performance Student Award at Fairmont State University. A senior health education and physical education major, Patrick is the son of Philip and Margaret Massey of Centreville. He has been Phi Epsilon Kappa historian and a member of Tobacco Free Falcons.

Cassie Craft, a graduate of Mountain View High School, won a scholarship from the Closet of the Greater Herndon Area. The Closet is a non-profit thrift shop operated in Herndon staffed by volunteers from a consortium of faith communities in the area. Scholarship awards represent just one of the many ways The Closet distributes its profit to benefit the local community.

The NOVA Manassas Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions on the evenings of July 18 and July 25, for qualified section string players for the 2007-08 season. Interested musicians should contact the orchestra for location information and to schedule an audition time. This can be done by email at personnel@manassassymphony.org or by phoning 703-257-6500, ext. 47737. The orchestra rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas.
