Army Pvt. Charles Osei has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Peter and Comfort Osei of Alexandria. He is a 2004 graduate of Annandale High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Mitchell L. Gore has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Gore earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Lula and stepson of David Bauer of Alexandria. The airman is a 2004 graduate of Edison High School, Alexandria.

Army Pvt. Jacob E. Wood has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Wood earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course. He is the son of Dan and Barb Thompson of Alexandria.

Air Force Airman 1st Class James E. Wages has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Marvin and Bobbi Wages of Alexandria.

Air Force Capt. Elizabeth Trawinski has arrived for duty at Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, N.M. Trawinski, an integrated product team laser engineer, is assigned to the Missile Defense Agency. She is the daughter of Allan Trawinski of Woodbridge, Va., and Yong H. Trawinski of Alexandria. The captain graduated in 1998 from Potomac Senior High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2002 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y.

Army Pfc. Andrew J. Said has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Michael Said of Gage Road, Alexandria. The private is a 2001 graduate of Evangel Christian School, Woodbridge.

Army Pfc. Erica M. Weidner has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Joseph Weidner of Lavera Road, Warminster, Pa., and Susan Kiernan of Alexandria. Weidner graduated in 2003 from Archbishop Wood High School, Warminster, and received an associate degree in 2006 from Bucks County Community College, Newtown, Pa.

Army National Guard Spec. Jason S. Jenkins has been mobilized and activated for a future deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The specialist is a cannon crew member normally assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, Bardstown, Ky. He is the son of Clif and Brenda Jenkins of Alexandria.

Two high-ranking Army officers in Alexandria and Fort Belvoir are among 15 senior military officials, prominent education leaders and business executives selected to participate in the 2007 Broad Superintendents Academy, The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems announced today. Col. Christine Knighton, chief of the leader development division within the Army Human Resources Command's officer personnel management directorate, and Maj. Gen. Bennie Williams, chief operating officer for the Defense Logistics Agency, will attend The Broad Superintendents Academy, a 10-month executive management program to train top executives from military, business, non-profit, government and education backgrounds to lead urban public school districts.

Air Force Airman Daniel R. Bowersox has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is the son of Robert Bowersox of Alexandria.

Air Force Airman Nichole N. Harris has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Harris is the daughter of Monica Harris Jemmott of Trent Court, Alexandria, and granddaughter of Veronica Harris of W. Devane St., Pensacola, Fla.

Air Force Airman Karel J. Sangster has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Sangster is the son of Karen Robinson of Signature Circle, Alexandria.

Army Pvt. Yanine M. Harmon-Perez has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Sandra Harmon of N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, and granddaughter of Dan Lamar of Wayne Ave., Silver Spring, Md. Harmon-Perez is a 2006 graduate of Kenwood High School, Essex, Md.

The following Virginia Military Institute cadets are among the 484 cadets who were recently named to the dean's list for the fall semester.

* Rammy G. Barbari - A sophomore from Alexandria is majoring in international studies. Cadet Barbari's parents are Mr. & Mrs. George S. Barbari.

* Lloyd R. Crouse - A sophomore from Alexandria is majoring in international studies. Cadet Crouse's parents are Ms. Ellen M. Evans and Mr. Anthony R. Crouse.

* William E. Harley - A senior from Alexandria is majoring in international studies. Cadet Harley's parent is Mrs. Kathleen R. Harley.

* Fredrick T. Robinson Jr. - A senior from Alexandria is majoring in economics & business. Cadet Robinson's parents are Ms. Meloney Driver and Mr. Fred Robinson Sr.

* Phill H. Yi - A junior from Alexandria is majoring in civil engineering. Cadet Yi's parents are Mr. & Mrs. Hokyung Yi.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Zachary M. Lane has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Harold and Elizabeth Lane of N. Pitt St., Alexandria. Lane received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Eric F. Basinger has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Basinger is the son of Mary Basinger of Dolphin Lane, Alexandria. The airman is a 2006 graduate of Mount Vernon High School.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Timothy C. Graham has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Christopher Graham of W.V., and Karla Pfleeger of Alexandria. Graham is a 2006 graduate of Jefferson High School, Shenandoah Junction, W.V.

Army Spec. Alexander E. Yerg has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Diane Yerg of Alexandria. Yerg graduated in the year 2000 from Annandale High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Sonia M. Toro-Valles has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Gina and John Toro-Lugo of Mount Vernon. Toro-Valles is a 2005 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, Alexandria.

Army Pfc. Aunja M. Coleman has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Ollie Coleman of Woodbury Drive, Columbia, S.C., and sister of Dexter McLendon of Manor Road, Alexandria. Coleman is a 1999 graduate of Lower Richland High School, Hopkins, S.C.

Army Pvt. Matthew R. Limberg has graduated from Basic Combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Limberg is the son of Duane and Lisa Limberg of Beechcliff Drive, Alexandria.

Air Force Airman Christopher M. Simonton has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Toni Keeling of Satham, Ga., and Gene Simonton of Holland Lane, Alexandria. Simonton is a 2005 graduate of Oconee County High School, Watkinsville, Ga.

Army Sgt. Joshua T. Spiess participated in the 32nd U.S. Army Annual Culinary Arts Competition at Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va. The competition is rated the largest culinary competition in America. Spiess, a food service specialist, is assigned to the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, Fort Myer, Arlington. He has served in the military for five years. He is the son of Brenda Lou Moody of Inwood, W.Va., and James L. Spiess of Lancaster, Va. His wife, Lindsey, is the daughter of Christopher and Debra Chaffin of Alexandria. The sergeant is a 1998 graduate of Lancaster High School, and received an associate degree in 2001 from Johnson and Wales University, Norfolk, Va.

Jahangir Khan has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the brother of Rozina Bibi of Holmes Drive, Alexandria.

Army Spec. Steven J. Deitchman has returned to the 629th Military Intelligence, Cascade, Md., after being deployed overseas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Deitchman is a wheeled vehicle mechanic with 10 years of military service. He is a 1993 graduate of West Potomac High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Pius B. Agyemang has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Georgina Bema of Alexandria. Agyemang is a 2006 graduate of T. C. Williams High School.

Air Force Airman Christopher M. Simonton has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Toni Keeling of Dials Plantation Drive, Statham, Ga., and Gene Simonton of Holland Lane, Alexandria. Simonton is a 2005 graduate of Oconee County High School, Watkinsville, Ga.

Emily Lynn Vernon was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the National Guard in a ceremony upon completion of ROTC studies and her graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C. on May 12. Lt. Vernon graduated after completing four years of studies in linguistic and public policy at UNC-Chapel Hill and is currently teaching Russian language to disadvantaged students in Miami, Florida. She will begin her next phase of officer training in affiliation with the North Carolina Army National Guard during the spring of 2008. Lt.Vernon is a 2003 graduate of West Potomac High School where she earned an advanced placement diploma.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Darren Logan has been mobilized and activated for a future deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Logan is a motor sergeant normally assigned to the 275th Quartermaster Group, Fort Dix, Trenton, N.J. He is the son of Douglas M. and stepson of Andrea R. Logan of Hyattsville, Md. His wife, Lisa, is the daughter of James Storr, and Renee Storr, bothof Alexandria. The sergeant first class is a 1986 graduate of Northwestern High School, Hyattsville.
