Assessments On Rise Again

Lorton sees highest spike in county, nearly 2.6 percent.

After years of double-digit assessment increases, most Fairfax County residents saw their property tax assessments fall this year. Residents in Fairfax Station saw, on average, a decrease of 3.05 percent over last year, while residents in Clifton will pay, on average, 0.51 percent more this year. Once again, Lorton saw the largest increase in the county, with assessments rising 2.59 percent.

These houses were selected at random using the Fairfax County Department of Tax Administration's Real Estate Assessment Information Web site, to demonstrate how their values have changed in the past five years.
