A memorial walk to honor Ellen Pickering, a champion of open space and the city’s waterfront, was held Sunday beginning at the steps of the Athenaeum. The walk was sponsored by the Greater Alexandria Preservation Alliance and was led by Robert L. Montague III who worked alongside Pickering. The group hopes to make the walk an annual event.
