The Springfield Art Guild offers an exhibit at the Kingstowne Library from July 17 to Aug. 17 featuring the photographs of Yvette Monte. The Artists’ Undertaking Gallery in Historic Occoquan presents "Etched in Time." David Barnes of Sterling will be exhibiting etched glass pieces that he has incorporated into his fused glass artwork and includes sculpture as well as artistic jewelry. Roger Frey of Woodbridge will exhibit three different series of work. The first explores landscapes, the second candles and their smoky plume and the third explores the human gesture. The exhibit runs Aug. 5 through Sept. 1. An artist reception takes place Saturday, Aug. 9, from 4-6 p.m. The gallery is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, and is at 309 Mill St. in Historic Occoquan. The Fairfax Art League presents its August show, "The Speed of Time," with Adam Lister as the July-August Artist of the Month. A versatile artist who expresses exuberance for life in numerous media, for this show the artist displays in watercolor, foam, glue and more. Other artists will be showing original photography, watercolor, collage, acrylic, oil, pastel, pencil and other media. "Joys of Summer" is the theme of Fairfax Art League’s August Weekend show in Old Town Village Center from Friday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 3. The Third Weekend Art Extravaganza will be among the shops at Old Town Village Center on North Street between University Drive and Chain Bridge Road (Route123) in Old Town Fairfax. "The Gesture." The Loft Gallery will hold a reception on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 1-3:30 p.m. for Gwen Harrison Lockhart, who regularly exhibits at The Loft Gallery in Occoquan and in her studio at The Loft Art Center. Lockhart sculpts in clay, plastilene or wax, creating animals, heads and busts, or full figurative pieces. Many of her sculptures have been molded and cast in bronze, using the lost wax process.
