<b>Marshal High School Marks Anniversary</b>

George C. Marshall High School will celebrate its 45th anniversary with a weeklong celebration for students, families, and the community April 12- 19. The theme for this event is "Appreciate the Past, Celebrate the Present, and Embrace the Future."

Festivities begin on Saturday, April 12, with an evening gala featuring keynote speaker, Thomas R. Pickering, former Ambassador to the United Nations, Russia, India, Israel, El Salvador, and Jordan. The evening will include a special dinner prepared by Chef Ciaran Devlin of The Five Star Café, a student-designed cake featuring school’s mascot, the Griffin, created by Food Network's Ace of Cakes, GCM Booster Club's Hall of Fame inductees, the first Statesmen of the 21st Century awardees, and entertainment provided by the Marshall's String Quartet.

Throughout the week, students from George C. Marshall and Kilmer Middle School will participate in instructional opportunities focused on leadership and honoring General Marshall.

Rachel Thompson, director of the Marshall Immersion Seminar Program of The George C. Marshall International Center, will speak to students in their history classes. There will be an essay and art contest as well as a tour of Dodona Manor, home of General Marshall located in Leesburg. As a culminating event, a 5K fun race for the community will be held on Saturday, April 19.

<b>Living History</b>

Marion Dobbins will present a living history program focusing on African-American life and genealogy in Fairfax County, at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15 at the Town Hall Chambers, 127 Center Street South,Vienna. The program, sponsored by Historic Vienna, Inc., is free and refreshments will be served. For more information call 703.200.7806.

<b>Booster Club Hosts Casino Night, Auction</b>

The Madison Athletic Booster Club is hosting a Casino Night and Silent Auction on Saturday, April 5 for anyone 21 or older. Proceeds will benefit the athletic program at JMHS.

Tickets are $35 in advance, and $45 at the door. The festivities begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 9616 Courthouse Road in Vienna.
