Paul VI Spotlight (Feb. 18-25)

<b>Paul VI Hockey Secure Playoff Spot</b>

The Paul VI varsity ice hockey team celebrated Senior Night on Friday, Feb. 13 by defeating Osbourn Park, 7-2, in a fast-paced game with aggressive play, hard-hitting action and a multitude of shots on goal.

After the first period, the Panthers were down by two due to a few penalties which forced the team to play with two men down. But Paul VI came out blazing in the second period, taking 21 shots and connecting on five goals by Frank Duggan, Aaron Lim and Peter Veltri.

Throughout the game, strong defense was shown by Nick Park and Ritchie Golinowski, which opened up scoring opportunities for the forwards. The Panthers secured two goals in the final period by Adam Kosna and Peter Veltri.

For nine of the seniors, this would be their last regular-season game at Paul VI. The nine seniors honored were captain Adam Kosna, assistant captain Michael Summers, Zach DePont, Alec Kormanec, Aaron Lim, Nick Park, Matt Riley, Austin Woolf and manager Kevin Razzano.

<b>Paul VI Wrestling Places Sixth</b>

The Paul VI wrestling team placed sixth at the VISAA State wrestling tournament. Noteworthy performances for the Panthers included: Chuck Carlton, second place; Donny Baumgart, Ben Pfotenhauer and Sammy Ojjeh, third place; Benen O”Brien and Charles Bull, fifth place; Vinny DiGilio and Dan McGroarty, seventh place.
