Del. Timothy Hugo and more than 35 volunteers embarked on their 7th annual "Flag Day" on July 2. This annual event celebrates the 4th of July holiday weekend and has grown from 1,000 homes at its inception to more than 13,000 this year. "Flag Day" happens every year on the week before the 4th of July weekend. American Flags are dispensed in all parts of the district and placed by the mailbox to give the neighborhoods a festive appearance and also to celebrate the nation's independence. Hugo has been a member of the House of Delegates for Virginia's 40th District since 2002.
