Chantilly — Twenty-six girls from Lees Corner Elementary School ran in the Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia 5K held on the George Mason University Campus on Sunday, May 20. The run was the capstone event of a 12-week after school program that aims to help girls between 3rd and 6th grade develop self-esteem and self-respect through a curriculum integrated with a running program. More than 3,600 girls from schools in northern Virginia, and their buddy runners participated in the 5K.
