MPAartfest to Hold Teen Talent Auditions on Sept. 22

MPAartfest is looking for musically talented teens between the ages of 12 and 17 to audition to become the MPAartfest Idol. The winner will get to play a set in the Gazebo in McLean Central Park during MPAartfest on Sunday, Oct. 14 and will also receive four free hours of studio time with a producer and engineer from Big V productions, co-sponsor of the auditions. All musical styles will be considered. The auditions will be held from 10-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Big V Productions in Herndon.

Noelle Topetzes, committee chair for entertainment at MPAartfest said, “MPAartfest is such a wonderful community arts event and we always like to add something new and different. This year we are looking for an undiscovered musically talented teen. The winner of the MPAartfest Idol will get to play a set in the gazebo in the company of such great acts as Scott Ramminger and the Crawstickers and the McLean Orchestra Flute Ensemble."

On Oct. 14, the sixth annual MPAartfest, presented by McLean Project for the Arts, will transform McLean Central Park into a landscape of mini art galleries showcasing and offering for sale the work of a diverse group of 50 juried artists.

MPAartfest includes activities to captivate art-lovers of all ages. Stroll through the Children's ArtWalk, sponsored by McLean Community Foundation, and coordinated by New Dominion Women's Club, to experience the work of young artists from McLean area schools. Budding artists of all ages may create their own works of art at Innovation Station, sponsored by TTR Sotheby's International Real Estate.

The Gazebo Stage will feature a variety of live performances throughout the day including Scott Ramminger and the Crawstickers, Dead Cat Bounce, Potomac School musicians, McLean Orchestra Brass Quintet, McLean Orchestra Flute Ensemble and the Winner of MPAartfest Idol.

McLean Project for the Arts presents approximately 15 professionally-curated exhibitions in three galleries located at 1234 Ingleside Ave. in the McLean Community Center. In addition to MPAartfest, MPA also offers a variety of art classes for all ages; MPA ArtReach, MPA's educational outreach arts program; art talks and tours to local museums.
