Julia Hanes, of Chantilly, is one of 92 students at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg named to the University of Mary Washington’'s president's list for the fall semester. Hanes is a junior.

Ari Veach, a resident of Oak Hill and a sophomore acting major, was named to the dean's list in Ithaca College's school of humanities and sciences for the fall 2012 semester.

Kieran Claffey, of Oak Hill, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College has been named to the honor's list.

Jamie Sawatzky, who teaches social studies at Rocky Run Middle School, was scheduled to represent the school at the Spirit of ’45 National Leaders Conference in San Diego Feb. 15-18. This interactive conference supports the Spirit of ’45 national movement, which includes plans for a nationwide commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in August 2015.

Sawatzky founded the World War II oral history project at Rocky Run in 2004, which, over the past nine years has included interviews by students with hundreds of eyewitnesses to World War II who have shared their personal accounts of the war. Many of these interviews have been videotaped and are now part of the Veterans’ History Project at the Library of Congress. Rocky Run students also meet honor flights of World War II veterans arriving at local airports to visit the World War II memorial under Sawatzky’s guidance.

Steven Bowen, of Fairfax, a third year school of pharmacy and health professions student at Creighton University, was named to the fall dean's list for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Jessica Brown, of Fairfax, was named to the dean’s list at Olivet Nazarene University.

Chelsea Legendre, a junior at James Madison University and a Centreville High School graduate, was named to the president’s list for Fall 2012. She was also on dean’s list for Spring 2012.

Adriana I. Mendoza of Centreville has been named to the McDaniel College fall 2012 dean's list with highest honors. Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher.

Hanna Elizabeth Skahn received a bachelor of arts degree in communication sciences and disorders from Baylor University.

Keeho Kim received a doctor of philosophy degree in religion, politics and society from Baylor University.

Wicitra Mahotama was named to the dean’s list at Iowa State University and is majoring in environmental science (AGLS).

Maretta Fan, of Centreville, was named to the dean's list at Emory College.

Noreen Rich, of Centreville, graduated with a master's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater during winter commencement.

Annmarie Scerra, of Centreville, a junior at James Madison University, earned the first-place award in sound design at the Mid-Atlantic Region II Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival at Towson University in Md. Scerra, who is majoring in biology and music industry, won for her work on the fall production of "For Sale," an original student-written play.

Taylin Frame, of Centreville, was named to the dean’s list at Olivet Nazarene University.

Schreiner University of Kerrville has named Matthew Munson, of Centreville, to its president's list. Munson, son of Mark Sr. and Jean Munson was named to the roster of high-achieving students for the fall 2012 term.
