Herndon Elementary School teachers Jaime Graham and Susie Doak are this year’s winners of the Herndon Optimist Award from Herndon Elementary. Doak works as a lead mentor for new teachers and those transitioning to Herndon. She is a supportive team member and consistently keeps in touch with former students to support them as they go forward. She attends many Herndon events and is a positive member of the community. Graham works in many capacities both as a teacher and a parent at Herndon. She is the sponsor for Girls on the Run, supports GEMS, and had served as the teacher representative on the PTA executive board this year. Next year she will serve as the VP of volunteers for the PTA, making her the second behind the PTA president. Both teachers embody what the Optimists stand for “providing hope and positive vision” for youth. They will be honored at the club’s annual Friend of Youth Banquet on Monday, June 20.
