To the Editor:
I encourage everyone to donate to St. Jude Children’s’ Research Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children — two very worthy organizations that do so much for the children’s health and outlook on life.
St. Jude does pioneering research and treatment for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. During its existence, St. Jude’s has increased the survival rate of cancer children patients from 40 percent to 80 percent because of the pioneering cancer research done at the hospital. That result has given hope, life and opportunities to many children. Children are provided medical treatment regardless of families’ inability to pay. You can send your donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Phone 1-800 805 5856.
Shriners Hospitals are a nationwide network of 22 hospitals with services that include orthopedic conditions (e.g. prosthetics for missing arms and legs), burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate to children under 18. These hospitals have helped more than one million children reach their potential and lead more fulfilling lives regardless of their families’ inability to pay. Shriners places children’s’ well being first in their treatment of illnesses. You can send your donation to Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438-0018, Phone 1 888 337 0080.
Most of the donated money for both St. Jude’s and Shrine’s goes to help the children with little used for administration and raising funds.
Thanks for your support of many children whose lives would be adversely affected if it weren’t for the great care provided by St Jude’s and Shriners hospitals.
