In the article titled “Splash with DASH” [Alexandria Gazette Packet, July 2], there is no mention of the public pool located next to the Mt. Vernon school where Commonwealth and Mt. Vernon Ave. come together.
This pool has been closed for more than five years. The reason the city gives is that they cannot not afford to operate it. What a joke. We have money to subsidize many bus companies, metro, traffic calming etc. What about a pool for the kids?
