Letter: Ability To Get Things Done

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

When I first met Justin Brown I was thinking the same thing many of you were: “who is this kid, he looks so young.” Well the truth is, he is young. When he came to work with me at the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2010 he was 28 years old.

Justin’s age was quickly eclipsed by his ability to get the job done.

Within a year Justin was selected for the department’s Leadership VA (LVA) training program; generally known as the road to becoming a senior executive in the Federal Government. In that program, the 80 colleagues he attended the course with voted for him to receive their only “LVA Leadership Award.”

So when Justin told me that the House Democratic leadership asked him to run a Congressional Subcommittee, I was not the least bit surprised. I was also not surprised that by the next Congress, Justin had been tagged to run two subcommittees at the same time.

I say all of this to highlight that people don’t just run into these kind of opportunities. Justin not only has a winning record, he has an extraordinary record of getting the job done, and then some.

As a fellow veteran, a resident of the Marlan Precinct, and someone who has had the opportunity to see Justin in action, I know that my vote in the Democratic Primary will be for him. Supporting Justin will be a vote for a hard working individual that has a stellar, near unprecedented record of public service. He makes it happen for those he fights for. I am voting for Justin so that he can fight for us in Richmond.
