In a pre-Halloween event to raise awareness on the student debt crisis, members of the Virginia Student Power Network (VSPN) dressed up as ‘Walking-Debt’ zombies during the Bernie Sanders National Student Town Hall at George Mason University on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

VSPN chapters from around the state are hoping their support for “free higher education—an idea already embraced by Sanders—will scare the Virginia General Assembly into embracing a similar plan for state schools.”

“A lifetime of crippling debt is a very scary thing that we all should be afraid of,” said senior Kalia Harris, a student leader of the GMU chapter of the VSPN. “We want our universities and state representatives to follow Sanders’ lead and prioritize students by developing a detailed plan for free higher education in the Commonwealth.”
