Apple Contest in Alexandria

Janet Cantwell, principal of St. Mary’s Catholic School, receives a $3,000 check on Monday, Dec. 19, from Mark Nicholson of Red Jacket Orchards, representing the U.S. Apple Association. The school took third place in the second annual Apples for Education: Buy an Apple, Help a Student fundraising campaign. The funding will be used to enhance their understanding of literacy and math with iPads for its kindergarten classrooms.
