Lake Anne Gets a Postal Service Office

The Robert E. Simon Contract Postal Unit at Lake Anne will have an opening celebration on Saturday, Feb. 6.

A CPU is a supplier-owned or supplier-leased site operated by the supplier under contract to the Postal Service to provide postal products and services to the public at U.S. Postal Service prices.

Doris Tyler, owner of Chesapeake Chocolates in Lake Anne Plaza, was instrumental in getting a post office facility at Lake Anne.

The late Robert Simon's wife Cheryl Simon will be attending the opening and will dedicate a photo that will be placed inside the post office. All are welcome to attend.

Lake Anne Dad Squad Gathering

The Lake Anne Dad Squad will gather at Lake Anne Elementary on Monday, Feb. 8, at 8:30 a.m. to lend a hand at the school. Fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and father figures are invited to stop by for 10 minutes or two hours, whatever their schedules allow. Dad Squad members can talk about their family members, read, sing, have lunch, straighten books, reboot a computer, or support classroom learning on Feb. 8, as well as provide support and assistance to faculty. Coldwell Banker Residential Opens in Reston Town Center

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage will open a new Reston location on Thursday, Feb. 4 with a ribbon cutting by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce.

The office is located at Reston Town Center at 11911 Freedom Drive, Suite 520 and will be a base for more than 50 independent agents.

“Reston Town Center is a thriving retail and commercial services center, and this move puts us right in the heart of it,” noted Rick Hoffman, senior regional vice president, Mid-Atlantic, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

The office also features multiple shared areas and conference rooms which provide comfortable presentation and meeting space for the wide variety of real estate services the office offers.

Volunteers Sought for Food Packing Event

Assistance League of Northern Virginia invites community members to help pack food for the Weekend Food for Kids program which benefits 1500 schoolchildren who receive reduced-price meals during the week. The next food packing event is at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 at Dominion Virginia Power, 3072 Centreville Road in Herndon. Arrive at 9:30 a.m. if you would like to help with setup.
