Lost Property - Flagship Carwash, 540 Maple Ave., West. Dec. 16 between 9 a.m. and noon. A citizen reported losing his hearing aids. He believes they may have been lost while he was at the carwash.

Animal Case – Quarantine, 1000 Block Maple Avenue, East

Dec. 20, noon. A resident reported that her dog bit a friend who was visiting their home. The resident was informed of the quarantine process and agreed to quarantine her dog at home. ACO Barker will follow up with this case.

Mental Case - Hillcrest Drive, SW. Dec. 23, 1:07 p.m. A resident requested we check on the welfare of his wife. Officers located the wife inside the home, where she appeared to be emotionally distraught and intoxicated. She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Undetermined Death - 200 Block Ross Drive, SW. Dec. 23 3:42 p.m. A resident reported she returned home to find her boyfriend injured on the floor. Officer Herrera responded and along with members of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department it was determined the individual was deceased. This case is being investigated.

Police Service - Vienna Police Department, 215 Center St., South

Dec. 23, 3:53 p.m. A resident turned in old firearms and ammunition for destruction.

Animal Case – Quarantine, 400 Block Nutley St., NW. Dec. 24, 9:15 a.m. A resident was bitten by his daughter’s dog while they were visiting his residence from Maryland. ACO Barker explained the quarantine process to the dog’s owner. ACO Barker will follow up with the appropriate jurisdiction in Maryland on the dog’s quarantine.

Missing Person - 300 Block Old Courthouse Road, NE. Dec. 25, 3:30 a.m. A resident reported her elderly husband had wandered off and had not been seen in several hours. Officers checked several places that he frequents and a lookout was given to the other local police jurisdictions. At 8:52 a.m. a resident in the 500 Block of Wolftrap Road, SE reported a burglary in progress when he found the elderly male inside his home. The male advised officers he became lost and confused while walking and entered the home to wait for his wife to find him.

Police Service - Vienna Police Department, 215 Center Street, South. Dec. 26, 11:45 a.m. A citizen turned in ammunition for destruction.

Police Service - The Bey Lounge, 303 Mill Street, NE. Dec. 27, 12:49 a.m.

A resident reported a noise violation, loud music, coming from the Bey Lounge. An officer responded to the resident’s yard and could faintly hear music, but not loud enough to constitute a violation. Officer Lyons spoke to an employee of the Bey Lounge and he advised that, although there was no violation, they would turn the music down.

Petit Larceny - 1000 Block Moorefield Creek Road, SW. Between Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 28 at 9:05 a.m. A resident reported that someone entered their two unlocked vehicles that were parked in their driveway and had taken personal property and change.

Suspicious Event - 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE. Dec. 28, 4:05 a.m. Officers responded for a report of a man banging on a resident’s door. The resident believed the man was her ex-boyfriend and that he may be drunk. The resident further advised the ex-boyfriend had been sending her text messages that have put her in fear for her safety. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the man.

Narcotics Violation - 800 Maple Avenue, East. Dec. 28, 1:40 p.m. Officer Slebonick was on patrol when he observed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit. As a result of the violation he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. After speaking with the driver he located a measurable amount of marijuana. The driver, a 20-year-old man from Woodbridge, Va., was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana. After signing the summons he was released.

Fraud - 300 Block Church Street, NE. Dec. 28, 6:43 p.m. A resident reported being the victim of fraud when someone made unauthorized charges to one of her accounts. This case is being investigated by our department.

Civil Matter - 1000 Block Park Street, SE. Dec. 28, 6:56 p.m. Officer Hylinski responded to a verbal dispute between a landlord and tenant. The tenant was advised this was a civil matter and she should consult an attorney about the matter.

Destruction of Property - Nutley Street at Tapawingo Road, SW. Dec. 29 between 7 a.m. and 7:56 a.m. A Town pole that holds the street signs was found in the roadway.

Fraud - 400 Block Victoria Court, NW. Between Dec. 18 at 8 a.m. and Dec. 29 at 11:37 a.m. A resident received an invoice in the mail for an order she never made. When she contacted the business, an employee asked her for her personal information, which she provided. The employee advised her that an account had been opened using her information. This case is being investigated by our department.

Welfare Check - 100 Block Patrick Street, SE. Dec. 29, 4:39 p.m. A citizen requested a welfare check on his brother who suffers from a medical condition. Officers checked on the resident and found he was not in need of any assistance.

Missing Person - 300 Old Courthouse Road, NE. Dec. 30, 4:51 a.m. A resident reported her elderly husband had wandered off from home and she was concerned for his safety. The husband returned home a short time later.

Crashes

Beulah Road near Church Street, NE. Dec. 23, 2:57 p.m. Three vehicles were traveling southbound on Beulah Road approaching the traffic light at

Church Street. As the light turned green the driver of the first vehicle began to slowly accelerate. The driver of the third vehicle struck the rear of the second vehicle, pushing it into the first vehicle. The young male driver of the third vehicle (an older model Honda Civic) fled the scene without

stopping to exchange information.

Park Street near Moore Avenue, SE. Dec. 23, 4:17 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was stopped in traffic at the 4-way stop sign. The driver of the

second vehicle was unable to stop in time and ran into the rear of the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Following Too Close.

400 Block Maple Avenue, West. Dec. 24, 12:47 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was exiting a parking lot to turn left and go eastbound on Maple

Avenue. The driver of the second vehicle was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue and prematurely entered the center turn lane for Nutley Street to avoid traffic. Both drivers had partially obstructed views. The driver of the first vehicle struck the second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Not Paying Full Time and Attention.

Maple Avenue and Niblick Drive, SE. Dec. 26, 6 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was attempting to make a left turn from Niblick Drive to go westbound on Maple Avenue, East after stopping at the stop sign at the intersection. The driver of the second vehicle was traveling eastbound in the left lane of Maple Avenue. The first driver pulled into the intersection striking the second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for No Insurance.

Maple Avenue at Nutley Street, NW. Dec. 26 10:23 p.m. The first vehicle was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue at Nutley Street. The traffic light

was green for vehicles traveling in both directions on Maple Avenue. The driver of the second vehicle was traveling eastbound and attempted to make a left turn in front of the first vehicle to go north on Nutley Street, causing the first driver to strike the second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Not Paying Full Time and Attention.

Maple Avenue at Park Street, NE. Dec. 27 5:46 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling northbound on Park Street with a green light to cross

Maple Avenue. The second vehicle was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue. The driver of the second vehicle was looking for a business and failed to pay attention to the red traffic signal. The driver of the second vehicle struck the first vehicle in the intersection. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Not Paying Full Time and Attention.
