Notable incidents from the Vienna Police reports: Jan. 8-14.

Incidents

Arrest – Narcotics Violation - Church Street at Beulah Road, NE. Jan. 7, 10:50 p.m. While on patrol MPO Smith conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the odor of marijuana radiating from the vehicle. After further interaction with the driver and passenger he located a measurable amount of marijuana. Both the driver, an 18 year old man from Flagship Avenue in Herndon, and his passenger, an 18 year old man from Pinedale Court in Falls Church, were issued summonses for Possession of Marijuana. Both men were released after signing the summonses.

Police Service - Colin Lane at Lawyers Road, NW. Jan. 8, 3:47 p.m. Officer responded to the area after receiving the report of an elderly gentleman who had fallen and suffered minor injuries. Upon arrival she determined he was unable to provide her with his personal information or how he may have arrived at his location. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were summoned to the area and after evaluating him he was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries sustained in the fall. Officer was able to locate the man’s wife and informed her of his situation.

Grand Larceny - Giant Food Store, 359 Maple Avenue, East. Jan. 8, 4:30 p.m. A customer reported she left her wallet in a shopping cart, unattended, while she loaded bananas in her vehicle. When she returned to retrieve her wallet she discovered it was gone. This case is being investigated.

Undetermined Death - 200 Block Park Street, SE. Jan. 8, 10:45 p.m. MPO responded to a residence after receiving a request for a welfare check of an individual who was to be working at the residence. Upon his arrival he found a female, deceased, in the bathroom. There were no signs of foul play. A detective will follow up with this case.

Domestic Assault - Cedar Lane, SE. Jan. 10, 2:01 a.m. A resident reported she and her boyfriend became involved in a heated argument that escalated when he assaulted her. MPO Lyons responded and spoke with both individuals who gave similar accounts of the event. The boyfriend, however, stated his girlfriend attempted to assault him first. There were no signs of injury to either person. The girlfriend requested that her boyfriend leave and not return. He did so without incident. Both individuals were informed of the warrant process should they decide to pursue the case.

Lost Property - W&OD Trail. Jan. 10 between noon and 4 p.m. A resident reported she lost her Virginia Driver’s License.

Juvenile Case - Advanced Auto Parts, 311 Maple Avenue, East. Jan. 10, 4:43 p.m. An employee reported he could hear someone running and laughing on the roof of the building. Officer responded and located a juvenile on the roof. The boy stated a friend and he, climbed onto the roof and were just hanging out. The second boy fled from the roof prior to the arrival of Officer. Officer transported the boy home and after counselling him on the dangers of being on the roof he was released to his father. The second boy was also identified and was counselled by officer as well.

Arrest - Solicitor - 100 Block Battle Street, SW. Jan. 11, 7:30 p.m. MPO Vazquez responded to the area after receiving a report of solicitors in the area. Upon arriving he located two individuals who claimed to be working for “Power Home Remodeling.” The men stated they were going to be doing work in the area and wanted to inform the residents of the noise and were also seeking to solicit more business. MPO informed the men of the need to possess a Town of Vienna Solicitors Permit if they wished to continue to solicit in the town. While speaking with them he learned one of the men had been informed, on two prior occasions, of the need to possess a proper permit. The 24-year-old man from Summit Drive in Temple Hills, Md. was issued a summons for Soliciting without a License. He was released after signing the summons.

Suspicious Event - 400 Block Johnson Street, SW. Jan. 11, 9:30 p.m. A resident reported a man had shown up at his residence seeking medical assistance. The resident stated the man appeared to have been assaulted. MPO responded and spoke with the man, who stated he accepted a ride from three men in Tysons Corner. After getting in the car the men robbed and assaulted him before dropping him off on Johnson Street. The man was transported to an area hospital by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel. The case was turned over to Fairfax County Police as the incident occurred in their jurisdiction.

Found Property - Beulah Road at Creek Crossing Road, NE. Jan. 12, 8:50 a.m. A citizen turned in a gun magazine he found in the area of Glyndon Park. The magazine will be held at the Vienna Police Station in the event the owner can be identified.

Animal Complaint - 1200 Block Ross Drive, SW. Jan. 12, 7:02 p.m. A resident reported two dogs, a black lab and a German Shepherd had shown up in front of her home, uninvited. The dogs were transported to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter until someone is able to confirm their identity.

Telephone Case - 700 Block Kingsley Road, SW. Jan. 13, 10:24 a.m. A resident reported he had been receiving threatening telephone calls for several months. He stated the voice on the telephone sounded like a Middle Eastern male. The resident decided to report the calls after they became more threatening. This case is being investigated.

Fraud - 300 Block Park Street, NE. Jan. 13, 2:47 p.m. A resident reported someone had opened a Wal-Mart Credit Card account in his name without his knowledge. This case is being investigated.

Petit Larceny - 300 Block Center Street, North. Jan. 14 between 5:30 a.m. and 1:33 p.m. A resident reported he went to his truck in the morning and discovered a white male, in his 20’s

wearing a dark blazer and dark colored pants shining a flashlight in the truck. The resident stated he startled the man who fled the area on foot. The resident gave chase after the man towards the American Legion where he lost sight of him. A small amount of money had been taken from the unlocked vehicle.

Crashes

Cottage Street at Kinglsey Road, SW. Jan. 8, 9:12 a.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling westbound on Kingsley Road and stopped at the Stop Sign at Cottage Street, SW. The driver stated a second vehicle was traveling southbound on Cottage Street and did not stop for the Stop Sign at Kingsley Road, SW. The driver of the second vehicle collided with the first vehicle as the driver entered the intersection. The driver of the second vehicle did not stop to exchange information.

300 Block Maple Avenue, East. Jan. 8, 2:06 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling eastbound on Maple, Avenue East. The driver of the second vehicle was attempting to exit a parking lot onto Maple Avenue, East and collided with the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

Branch Road at Maple Avenue, East. Jan. 10, 2:16 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was attempting to back up to enter a parking lot and backed into the second vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.
