INCIDENTS

Arrest – Drunk In Public -- Wendy’s 411 Maple Avenue, East Jan. 31, 2:38 p.m. Officers responded for the report of a man sleeping at a table in the restaurant. Upon the officers’ interaction with the man, they detected signs of impairment.

Sgt. Kiley arrested the 47-year-old man with no fixed address. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Drunk In Public.

Fraud -- 1200 Block Kelley Street, SW Jan. 31, 3:00 p.m. A resident was attempting to set up her Apple watch when she was notified that her account had been hacked and she would need to purchase an Apple gift card to unlock the account. After providing the access numbers for the card to the caller, the resident realized the call was a scam.

Juvenile Case -- Beulah Road, NE Feb.1, 11:35 a.m. MPO Borja assisted a resident with her juvenile son who was acting agitated after suffering an adverse reaction to a new prescription. The juvenile agreed to go with his mother to a medical facility for treatment.

Suspicious Event -- 500 Block Ware Street, SW Feb. 1, 2 p.m. A resident advised that her home security system showed that a suspicious man approached her front porch. The resident made the report a few hours after the incident occurred. No criminal activity was observed.

Destruction of Property -- Jammin Java Feb. 1, between 6:30 p.m. and 8:38 p.m. An employee reported that someone vandalized the front patio area with paint.

Arrest – Domestic Assault -- Niblick Drive, SE Feb. 1, 11:08 p.m. Officers responded to the report of a domestic assault. The residents advised their adult son began assaulting his father. During the assault, the mother ran to her bedroom to call the police. The son busted through the bedroom door, grabbed the phone and threw it, preventing his mother from calling for help. The son then left the home.

A few hours later, officers located the son after he returned to the residence. MPO Smith arrested the 26- year-old man. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Domestic Assault, Destruction of Property, and Preventing Another from Summoning Police. A protective order was also served on the man.

Lost Property -- Block Orleans Circle, SW Feb. 2, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. A resident reported that they lost their wallet.

Animal Case -- 100 Block Battle Street, SW Feb. 2, 9:30 a.m. A resident reported that she was walking her dog when a small dog approached them acting aggressively. The dog did not injure the resident or her dog. However, she advised she has observed the dog running at large in the past. The officer located the other dog’s owner and advised him of the Town’s Ordinance regarding dogs running at large. ACO Barker will follow up on this case.

Petit Larceny -- 900 Block Westwood Drive, NE Between Feb. 2 at 11 p.m. and Feb. 3 at 8 a.m. A citizen reported that she was visiting a relative’s home in Town when her license plates were stolen from her vehicle.

Found Property -- Wesley United Methodist Church 711 Block Spring Street, SE Feb. 3 between 8:20 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. A bicycle was left abandoned in the flower bed at the rear of the Church.

Found Property -- Vienna Town Hall 127 Center Street, South Feb. 3, 10 a.m. A Town employee reported that a citizen found currency on the ground in front of Town Hall and turned it over to him.

Arrest – Warrant Service -- Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South Feb. 3, 4:59 p.m. A man came into the Police Station inquiring if there were active warrants outstanding for him. Ofc. Gucwa found that the man was wanted by the Fairfax County Police and placed him under arrest. The officer transported the 36-year-old man from Orchard Parkway in Bowie, Md. to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where the warrants charging three counts of Misuse of the 911 System and three counts of False Report to Law Enforcement were served.

Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated -- 800 Block Follin Lane, SE Feb. 4, 12:44 a.m. Ofc. McElhattan observed a driver commit a traffic offense and initiated a traffic stop. Upon the officer’s interaction with the driver, he detected signs of impairment. The driver refused to perform any sobriety tests and declined to provide a sample of his breath for analysis.

Ofc. McElhattan arrested the 40-year-old man from Fosbak Drive in Vienna. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal and Reckless Driving.

Domestic Dispute -- James Drive, SW Feb. 4, 1:51 a.m. Officers responded to the report of a domestic dispute. The resident reported that her husband was very angry and was yelling at her and their adult son. The parties all agreed to separate for the evening.

Arrest – Noise Violation -- McDonald's 544 Maple Avenue, West Feb. 4, 5:41 a.m. Ofc. Gucwa observed a delivery driver unloading his truck at McDonald's. The officer advised the driver of the Town Code prohibiting commercial vehicles from unloading before 6 a.m. The officer issued the 52-year-old man from Cheltenham Drive in Stephens City, Virginia a summons charging Violation of the Town’s Noise Ordinance and released him on his signature.

Arrest – Drunk In Public -- Norm’s Beer and Wine 136 Branch Road, SE Feb. 5, 1:51 p.m. An employee advised MPO Lose of a man in their store who was acting disorderly and requested the man be removed from the premises. Upon the officer’s interaction with the man, he detected signs of impairment.

MPO Lose arrested the 47-year-old man from Foxmill Road in Oakton. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Drunk In Public.

Found Property -- 100 Block Courthouse Road, SW Feb. 5, 3:59 p.m. An employee of the Town’s Department of Public Works Department found some ammunition and turned it in for destruction.

Lost Property -- Whole Foods Market 143 Maple Avenue, East Feb. 5 between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. A citizen reported that she lost her diplomatic identification card in Whole Foods or on the bike trail.

Arrest – Drunk In Public -- Zenola 132 Branch Road, SE Feb. 5, 9:06 p.m. A man began to harass another customer in the restaurant and was asked by an employee to leave the premises. The man was later found lying in the alley behind the business. Officers responded with rescue personnel and determined the man was intoxicated. The man became disorderly with the rescue personnel while they were assessing him and treating a minor injury.

MPO Smith arrested the 28-year-old man from Magarity Road in Falls Church. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Drunk In Public.

Welfare Check -- 600 Block Echols Street, SE Feb. 6, 1:50 p.m. An employee with the Veteran's Administration requested a welfare check on one of their members who reside in Town. Officers spoke with the resident and determined that he did not need any assistance.

CRASHES

200 Block Echols Street, SE -- Jan. 25, 11:48 a.m. Vehicle-2 was legally parked on the roadway when it was struck by Vehicle-1 (an unknown vehicle). Driver-1 fled the scene without providing their information.

431 Maple Avenue, West -- Feb. 1, 5:50 p.m. Pedestrian-1 was walking westbound on the sidewalk in front of the entrance to the parking lot. Vehicle-1 approached the entrance and the driver motioned for Pedestrian-1 to walk across. Driver-1 then accelerated into the lot and struck the pedestrian’s foot. Vehicle-1 proceeded to turn around, exit the parking lot, and leave the scene without stopping to provide their information. The pedestrian continued to walk to his destination and back home before reporting the accident. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries but refused rescue.

400 Block Nutley Street, NW -- Feb. 2, 12:14 p.m. Vehicle-1 was westbound on Orchard Street and turned right to go northbound on Nutley Street when he lost control and struck Vehicle-2 (a legally parked vehicle).

Maple Avenue and Park Street, SE -- Feb. 2, 3:54 p.m. Vehicle-2 was traveling northbound on Park Street, crossing Maple Avenue with the green traffic light. Vehicle-1 was traveling eastbound on Maple, proceeded through the red traffic light, and struck Vehicle-2. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

Pleasant Street and Maple Avenue, SW -- Feb. 3, 8:50 a.m. Vehicle-1 was on Pleasant Street, SW stopped at the stop sign for Maple Avenue. Vehicle-2 was traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue and struck Vehicle-1 as she entered the roadway. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Obey a Stop Sign.

Maple Avenue and East Street, NE -- Feb. 3, 10:45 a.m. Vehicle-2 was traveling southbound on East Street, NE entering the intersection of Maple Avenue with a green traffic light. Vehicle-1 was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue, disregarded the red traffic light and struck Vehicle-2. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.
