Armed Robberies Across Alexandria

Four armed robberies occurred across Alexandria over the weekend. On Nov. 17, a suspect stepped into the Wells Fargo Bank on the 300 block of N. Washington Street, stole cash and fled. The same day, a suspect robbed a convenience store on the 800 block of Franklin Street.

On Nov. 18, a group of suspects stole items from a victim while one brandished a firearm. Alexandria Police Department has since detained four suspects.

On Nov. 19, a suspect robbed the Subway at 2300 Eisenhower Ave., brandishing a firearm and stealing cash. Alexandria Police Public Information Officer Crystal Nosal said police believe the suspect was the same who robbed the same Subway on Nov. 12.

Nosal said robberies tend to increase towards the holidays, when victims are more likely to be carrying larger amounts of cash or spend more at shops and restaurants. — Vernon Miles
