Rainy skies did not deter tens of thousands from flocking to Mount Vernon Avenue Oct. 1 for the 21st annual Art on the Avenue festival in Del Ray.

Sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association, the annual event featured 350 artists, four stages of live music, children’s crafts and artist demonstrations. The pie baking contest, won by 9-year-old Genevieve Watkins in the youth division, Leah Davidson in the amateur division, and Randee Hilton in the professional division, raised more than $1,000 for the nonprofit Together We Bake.
