Two Dead in Car Crash; Detectives Asking for Public's Help

Detectives are looking for witnesses to an early morning crash on Sunday, July 15, that killed two people and injured two others. Tonnisha McCoy, 21, of Sterling, and Joselyn Herndon, 23, of Reston, were pronounced dead at the scene. Officers responded to the accident around 2 a.m. Sunday on the Fairfax County Parkway near Walnut Branch Road. Preliminarily, it appears that a 2004 Acura MDX was traveling northbound on the Fairfax County Parkway when the incident occurred. The driver lost control and the vehicle rotated and left the roadway. At least one other vehicle was on scene during the crash and stayed when officers arrived. Detectives believe speed and alcohol may have been factors. Due to the complex nature of the investigation, detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information to call 703-280-0564.
