The following incidents were reported by the Mount Vernon District Police Station.
RECKLESS DISCHARGE: 3500 block of Pike Road, April 5, 7:19 p.m. Officers responded to the Lorton Healthplex for a woman who had a gunshot wound. Officers learned she accidentally shot herself in the foot while playing with her gun in her backyard. No one else was injured. She was taken to the hospital by a family member. Charges will be determined pending consultation with the Office of the Commonwealth Attorney.
FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM/TRESPASSING: 8200 block of Richmond Highway, April 5, 4:06 p.m. An officer saw a 27-year-old man from Alexandria walking in the area and knew he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for trespassing. The officer followed the man who ran but was quickly caught after a short foot pursuit. While running, the suspect threw down a gun that officers found nearby. The suspect was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, obstruction of justice, trespassing and was served the outstanding trespassing warrant.
ROBBERY: 3000 block of Westford View Court, April 7, 12:45 a.m. Two teens were walking home when they were confronted by five to seven men. One man displayed a knife and told them to empty their pockets. The suspects took their personal property and ran away.
