Artist Michela Mansuino brings contemporary portraits to The Old Brogue and Katie’s Coffee House during the month of February, 2019. Mansuino earned her BFA, copied masterworks in the Louvre and the Prado and pursued landscape painting in Italy and taught art in Brazil. But she says it wasn’t until her studies at Philadelphia’s Studio Incamminati, School for Contemporary Realist Art, that she became a true artist. “I didn’t get this type of education in art school,” she says, “and I was hungry to learn the techniques of the old masters, learn about color study and the eternal subject, the human figure.” Mansuino displays her portraits at the Katie’s Coffee House as part of the Great Falls Studios extensive venues. An instructor through the Fellowship program at Studio Incamminati, she teaches drawing and painting in both Philly and Great Falls, exhibits regularly in both Philadelphia and the D.C. Metropolitan area and was recently a finalist in the Portrait Society of America’s still life competition. Katie’s Coffee House is located next to The Old Brogue at 760 Walker Road, Great Falls, Hours of operation: Mon-Fri: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Sat: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Sun: 7:30 a.m – 2 p.m. Tel.: 703-759-2759.
