Eight months after a Reston youth was struck and killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash, detectives from Fairfax County Police Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to search for the driver and seek the public's help.

Cruz Serrano, a 10th-grade student at South Lakes High School, was struck at about 5:40 p.m. at South Lakes Drive and Castle Rock Square on Dec. 29, 2018. Police said Cruz Serrano was trying to cross South Lakes Drive at the time of the crash and the driver left the scene.

According to an update from police on the original release posted Aug. 29, 2019, the striking vehicle was likely a sedan based on witness accounts. Detectives are seeking information on the make, model and driver.
