Opinion: Letter to the Editor: Time To Ban Glyphosate

Everybody tries to lead a healthy, happy life for themselves and their families. Something as simple as the gardening instruments you use should not have a negative impact on your health and wellbeing.

Recent studies done by a number of institutions and organizations (Ramazzini Institute, University of Washington, USPIRG, and others) have shown that the herbicide known as Round-Up contains glyphosate, a probable carcinogen. This herbicide, produced by Monsanto, has been linked to a 41% increased risk in Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Virginia should become a leader in putting public safety and health at the forefront of their future legislation. Banning glyphosate is a great first step that Virginia can take to further protect the health and lives of its citizens and help lead the way to a healthier future.
