Crime Reports July 9-17, 2023

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 1500 block of 28th Street S. At approximately 7:42 p.m. on July 9, police were dispatched to the report of an assault that just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim and known male suspect were involved in a verbal dispute, during which he allegedly struck her with a drinking glass resulting in lacerations. The victim was treated on scene by medics. A man, 32 of Fairfax, Va. was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, S. Four Mile Run Drive at Columbia Pike. At approximately 9:41 a.m. on July 7, police were dispatched to the late report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 11 p.m. on July 6, the victim and known male suspect became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into physical altercation, during which the suspect allegedly knocked the victim to the ground and assaulted him. During the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspect and took him into custody at his residence. The victim sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. A 25-year-old man of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding. He was held without bond

ROBBERY, 2100 block of Richmond Highway. At approximately 12:28 a.m. on July 10, police were dispatched to the report of trouble unknown. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was inside a residential building when he knocked on an apartment door before walking away. The two female suspects then exited the apartment and located the victim near the elevator. A verbal dispute ensued during which one suspect allegedly assaulted the victim while the other suspect stole the victim’s cellphone before leaving the scene. The suspects returned to the scene upon police arrival and were taken into custody. The victim sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. A 29-year-old woman of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Robbery and Public Intoxication. A 25-year-old woman, of Alexandria, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery and Public Intoxication. Both suspects were held without bond. 

ROBBERY, 3500 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 9:58 a.m. on July 7, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered a business, went behind the counter, threatened an employee and stole cigarettes. The suspect then left the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a male with a slim build, approximately 6’1” tall and carrying a black bag. The investigation is ongoing.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2200 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 11:51 p.m. on July 8, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim returned home and located the known male suspect inside. No items were reported stolen or damaged. The victim was provided information on the process of obtaining warrants.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 1700 block of N. Huntington Street. At approximately 10:01 a.m. on July 9, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was inside her residence when she observed the unknown male suspect open the door and enter. The victim verbally confronted the suspect and he left the scene in a silver sedan. No items were reported stolen. The suspect is described as a male with an average build, 50 – 60 years old, 6’0” – 6’2” tall with salt and pepper hair and wearing black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.  

BURGLARY (late), 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 9:35 a.m. on July 8, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined between approximately 8:45 p.m. and 8:59 p.m. on July 7, the unknown male suspect made entry into the business and stole jewelry, shoes and accessories before fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect is described as male wearing a white and red shirt, red hat, black shoes and a blue backpack. The investigation is ongoing. 

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 11:27 a.m. on July 13, police were dispatched to the report of an attempted robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and asked to see a piece of jewelry. When the employee removed the jewelry from the case, the suspect attempted to grab the jewelry from the employee, causing it to break. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The employee sustained minor injuries. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as male wearing a blue shirt, red hat and face mask. The investigation is ongoing.


ASSAULT ON POLICE, 200 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 11:04 p.m. on July 15, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two individuals leaving the business, one of which spat on an officer and was taken into custody. The investigation determined the male suspect and male victim were involved in a verbal dispute outside of the business when the suspect allegedly struck the victim, knocking him to the ground. The suspect continued to assault the victim and stole his cell phone. Another male then exited the business and a verbal dispute ensued before he was also assaulted by the suspect. Both victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries considered non-life threatening. Officers identified the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. A 27-year-old male, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault on Police. He was held without bond. The investigation is ongoing.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 4:24 p.m. on July 15, police were dispatched to the report of a trespassing. Upon arrival, it was determined the four juveniles, two males and two females, were directed to leave the business and while doing so, three of the juveniles allegedly assaulted security personnel before fleeing the scene on foot. Responding officers located the suspects in the area, gave them commands and attempted to take them into custody during which they resisted arrest and the two male suspects assaulted a police officer. All four juveniles were detained. One security personnel sustained minor injuries. Petitions were sought for one juvenile male suspect for Assault on Police, Assault and Battery and Obstruction of Justice. Petitions were sought for another juvenile male suspect for Assault on Police and Obstruction of Justice. Petitions were sought for the two juvenile female suspects for Assault and Battery and Obstruction of Justice.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 4900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 5:01 p.m. on July 16, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect was inside of a parked vehicle when the female suspect approached him. A verbal dispute ensued that escalated to a physical altercation during which a bystander separated the female suspect from the male.  The male suspect then exited the vehicle and struck the female suspect with a wooden object before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Officers in the area located the suspect vehicle, conducted a traffic stop and took the suspect into custody. The female suspect sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene by medics. A 32-year-old male, of Kearneysville, WV. was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding. A 37-year-old woman, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery.

ROBBERY, 4800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:42 a.m. on July 16, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was walking in the area when he was approached by three male individuals. The suspect then allegedly shoved the victim to the ground and stole his cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then discarded the cell phone on the ground and left the scene with the other two individuals. A short time later, the victim observed the suspect in the area and called police. The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident. No injuries were reported. A 33-year-old male of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Robbery and Public Intoxication.

RECKLESS HANDLING OF A FIREARM, 700 block of S. Florida Street. At approximately 5:16 p.m. on July 14, police were dispatched to the report of a discharge of a firearm. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect was allegedly cleaning his firearm inside his residence when the weapon discharged, causing damage to the interior of his home. No injuries or other property damage were reported and a firearm was recovered. A 29-year-old male of Arlington, Va. was charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm and released on a summons.

MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED VEHICLE, Clarendon Boulevard at N. Fillmore Street. At approximately 1:59 a.m. on July 15, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect was walking in the area when he became involved in disputes with other individuals. As the suspect continued walking on Clarendon Boulevard, he allegedly picked up a folding chair and threw it at an unrelated vehicle traveling in the area. A responding officer took the suspect into custody on scene. The passengers inside the vehicle did not report any injuries and the vehicle remained operational once the folding chair was removed from the vehicle’s wheel well. A 39-year-old male, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Throwing a Missile at an Occupied Vehicle.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 300 block of N. Thomas Street. At approximately 10:24 a.m. on July 16, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, it was determined an male suspect entered the victim’s residence and was located inside by responding officers. A 39-year-old male of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Unlawful Entry.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (Significant), 200 block of N. Piedmont Pike. At approximately 3:48 a.m. on July 15, police were dispatched to the report of a vehicle tampering. The reporting party advised they had observed three suspects allegedly steal a catalytic converter and flee the scene in a vehicle. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the area of 14th Street S. and S. Monroe Street. The investigation determined the suspect vehicle was displaying a stolen license plate and during a search of the vehicle, burglarious tools and a catalytic converter were recovered. An 18-year-old male; a 21-year-old male; and a 20--year-old male, all of Baltimore, MD, were arrested and charged with Entering a Motor Vehicle, Removal of a Catalytic Converter and Possession of Burglarious Tools.

BRANDISHING, 300 block of N. Thomas Street. At approximately 9:04 p.m. on July 15, police were dispatched to the report of a fight possibly involving a firearm. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim and three known individuals became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical altercation. During the incident, one suspect allegedly brandished a firearm before fleeing the scene in a black sedan with the two other involved individuals. The victim reported minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 900 block of Army Navy Drive. At approximately 10:59 a.m. on July 16, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, concealed items and attempted to exit the store before being confronted by a loss prevention officer. The suspect then pushed the loss prevention officer, exited the store and fled the scene in a vehicle. No injuries were reported. Officers canvassed the area for the suspect vehicle yielding negative results. The suspect is described as male with facial hair, approximately 5’8”, 200 pounds, wearing a black hat, black shorts and pink socks. The suspect vehicle is described as a white SUV. The investigation is ongoing.
